Battle of the Bridge
The great thing about NPC footie for an old fella like me is that no matter how out of sorts our team is, there're always those few days of hope and promise and hand-shandy anticipation ahead of a Battle of the Bridge.

Luke McAlister
Luke was once thought of as the next great thing, a young man who would grow and mature into a top-class professional footballer.

Rattue
Rattue on Wednesday has always been a favourite of ours, in much the same way that manure is good for crops. (For you young cunts out there who can't read or write, it's a metaphor and our website's the crops.) Here he is at his finest in his 'Worst XV of King Henry's reign' piece:

New coach for Harbour
In a slightly surprising result, Liam Barry has been named Head Coach of Harbour Rugby for 3 years.

Q&A
Following an email from a concerned fan, we try to answer the tough questions:

1.Who will ask why Hollister is avoiding owning up for his role in the season's results?
As we understand it, the board is responsible for the review on performance-related issues of B Hollister's position.

The quick fix
Last weekend was the end of the line for the spluttering North Harbour train which has in every sense "gone off the rails".

It is very easy to pass comment from our homes and offices but a little more difficult to arrive with comprehensive, logical and practical answers to the dilemma facing our beloved Union.

Harbour Squad Review
Ben Afeaki - Marist
The giant has, when fit, been of adequate form but won't progress much further than the odd game for the Chiefs. He is highly injury-prone and his massive bulk looks a bit funny on two wee legs but hey, he might be a late bloomer.
5.5/10

Harbour Hobo Profile

Quit with the flash stuff North Harbour
Gents. Let's start with the basics and then we will work on all the fancy stuff later. After the shambolic attempts on Friday it is back to the most basic of basic for you all.

Luke McAlister
How disappointing but sadly not surprising for McAlister to put himself before his own team. The guy lives in a dream-world where the reality of his own, privileged position on the NZ rugby landscape is yet to come into his self-absorbed focus.

'Debate' about North Harbour's relevance
Doing some intensive research over several glasses of whisky and whilst waiting for freeones.com to load, I discovered another story contributing to the 'debate' about North Harbour's relevance from - come on, have you guessed yet? - The Auckland Herald on Sunday.

Herald columnist Chris Rattue
These comments from the Auckland Herald this week, by that newspaper's resident sports 'controversialist', found their way into our mail as a rodent might find its way into your best caviar.

Battle of the Bridge
In recognition of the penis-pulsating build-up to another "Battle of the Bridge", we review the last 5 wins over the auld enemy. Sadly we have only ever won five and I have been to all of them.

We say ... Season Preview 2006
Quite an alternative start to the season this year as the full effect of professional rugby comes home to roost at the NPC level.

Not satisfied with the ruination of club rugby, the “money-makers” in Wellington turn their evil attention on the Air NZ Cup with it’s “new and improved format”. At a casual glance this promises to be as exciting as two more Tri-Nation fixtures.

North Harbour is constantly derided for its lack of fans. Because we at harbourrugby.com live on the Shore, we know why this is:

We love the Harbour 2nd XV

"Initially I thought it was just another North Harbour RFU public relations organisational abortion. Or the ban on foghorns, despite ...

The Greatest XV
As we approach the milestone that is 20 years of not winning anything, I feel it is important to name the Greatest XV North Harbour has ever produced. Of course you might not agree but who cares, I certainly don't. This may change in the build-up to our 20th anniversary ...
