| Game: |
North Harbour v Waikato at Onewa Domain
|
| Date: |
Sunday July 28 , 1991
|
| Price: |
Cost $2 (published by Sportz Graphics Limited) |
| Result: |
27 -15 to Harbour. |
| Cover: |
The
cover has Paul "Mad Dog" McGahan passing from the base of the
scrum with the legendary Buck Shelford looking on with distain
as a back has his mitts on the ball and not a real man like
a lock or loose forward. The sponsor's logo is prominent, in
the early nineties this was Liquor King which was probably good
for the players but not overly lucrative for the Union. The
beautiful Hibiscus is in the centre, otherwise reasonably standard
for this time. |
| The Vibe: |
Before the smaller versions we were in favour of a A4 glossy, it is black
and white internally so not much was spent on this form of
communication/promotion. For this year the colour was a generic beige
with photo, they are pretty crap actually. |
| The Content: |
An article on Dowdy, poster of Buck, Killarney St Profile, article on
Glenn Ross, ditto David Mayhew, pen portraits and sponsorship details. |
| Player Profile: |
Rob Grindlay (ECB) - Loosehead prop. Again, bit spooky that. This is the
Killarney St profile which was very prominent in programmes of this era.
|
| Interesting Bits: |
Very few, Chad Eagle played for the Colts and later went out with the
infamous Rebecca Loos. Scott Palmer was also on the bench and later went
on to play for Harbour and Auckland respectively.
