Dear Hamster,

On behalf of the 2007 North Harbour Management team I would like to thank you for your early show of support.

I am always open to discussion on most things rugby. As a result I am very interested in discussing how you can assist the team this year. Obviously defending the Ranfurly Shield will be high on the priority list along with being successful in the Air NZ Cup. Lets not forget promoting more Harbour players into the Super 14 comp for 2008.

I will be at Onewa Domain (a ground some refer to as 'the mecca') this Saturday at 2.45pm. Having browsed your website it is obvious that you would know this most famous of venues.

I suggest you meet myself and the other selectors after the match in the upstairs lounge of the Takapuna clubrooms where we can discuss the match and the form of some of the players. Then it will be off to the Stadium for the Blues Sharks.

I look forward to meeting Saturday.

Until then, happy hunting.

Wayne Pivac
Air New Zealand Cup Head Coach
North Harbour Rugby Union

Dear Mr. Pivac

On behalf of the devoted readers of Harbour Rugby's most famous and informative website, the Harbour Hamster (your grassroots expert) welcomes you to the position of Harbour Head Coach. While this vocation has at times proven to be a poisoned chalice, we believe you may have what it takes to make a real positive difference.

We also said that about Anscombe ... just kidding. (Nobody connected to Bays should have a driver's license let alone permission to coach rugby)

As you casually review our column inches, it will be apparent that we haven't always been that complimentary to past management and coaching staff of our great Union. Pollock in particular got a regular roasting but we like to think that occasionally we are fair and constructive with our blistering personal attacks on professional sporting performance or lack thereof.

In summary, if you ever need my assistance in team selection or general gossip, please don't hesitate to email the webmaster who will forward it to my sordid North Harbour burrow. I will give you a couple of games to get it right then will be in "boots and all".

All the best with the job ... I'm off to do a nut stock-take or whatever hamsters do in the off-season.

Cheers

Harbour Hamster
