Hamster & Pollock

It is fair comment that Pollock and harbourrugby.com didn't really see "eye-to-eye" on a myriad of issues pertaining to team selection at our Union.

Pretty much thought he was a bit of a knob to be honest but I have to say that I thought that he was very unfairly treated by an administration that who excels at being a bit average.

The 2006 season wasn't fantastic on the Air NZ Cup front but we made the quarter-finals and more importantly came away with a real piece of silverware even it was disguised as the Ranfurly Shield. We are yet to see how this affects the standings this year and Pollock based on this performance, probably should have been around to find out.

God only knows what was said at his performance review and we must now detract that it wasn't flash. The Board were quick to issue the statement that at the "expiry of every contract we will take the opportunity to go to market", i.e. "let's get shot of him". Being asked to reapply for you job obviously means you are on your way and the media jumped on that faster than a 'Cote player to a petrol voucher.

It will be very interesting to see if the "Board" maintains that position in the coming years.

With Teitjens leaving before he came, word is that he (Pollock) was interviewed again, only to miss out again.

Is this really the way to treat people as an employer...the answer of course is...no.
