New Year Greetings!
11 January 2007

Happy New Year to all fans of North Harbour Rugby!

It seems that we will be beginning the year with another worrying bout of indecision and negative media exposure.

In the latest saga untitled, "Appointment of New Coach", NHRFU again seems unable to complete this reasonably straight forward business task. Once again we are seen to be acting with acutely unprofessional behaviour Aotearoa has sadly come to expect from our Union.

In an age where corporate governance is the new "buzz-word", Harbour is clearly an example of what not to do and appears to exist and feed off one disaster to another. Wouldn't it be nice if we built on the Shield achievement and be seen to provide an environment to foster rugby and run a professional administration.

Rumour from the "burrow" is that Tietjens was to be appointed but had a last minute attack of the nerves and pulled the pin, can't blame him really. There are a few names floating about but they must also be looking at Harbour as a questionable employer. It was obvious to all who read newspapers in late 2006 that Pollock, who was asked to "re-apply", knew that his job security was about as safe as a third-class ticket on the HMS Titanic.

As no one else shows any confidence in the Union, it looks to be a shoot-out between those who are left behind, if they haven't already taken other positions in rugby organisation's with competent staff and a media officer that doesn't leak "dirty laundry" at every waking moment.

Sorry to start with such tales of gloom but hopefully someone decent comes on board to build on recent success and that our CEO doesn't go down the same path as his predecessors.
