The cover has Cunningham and a
young Botica hot-footing it down the ground. For some reason
a lot of the programmes that year were in vibrant colours which
had nothing to do with Harbour. NZ Couriers logo, logos of both
unions and the next home rep. fixtures round off a very functional
cover.
The
Vibe:
Being the first year, these programmes
were pretty sound, they have a lot of information and list all
the volunteers which were assisting the Union back in the day.
I remember these as a kid and reading them for weeks, I still
do, I loved those days.
The
Content:
An article on Shelford, Supporters
club, Pen portraits, Club Finals day and a large amount of advertising
devoted to DB.
Player
Profile:
Wasn't one.
Interesting
Bits:
Large sections devoted to the ECB
v NS club final which was a nice touch, BJ Lochore, met the
teams before the game which was a real occasion. Now we play
the club final at midnight in our empty stadium. The NH 2nd
XV had Russell Jones at No.8, everyone had jobs and a heck of
a lot were cops. Brent Simmons (Massey) was listed as a dustman
which is simply outstanding.
