Well, some pie of the humble variety was eaten after
watching highlights of the Harbour v Tasman game.
The team played with a bit more accuracy and direction
especially in the second half but have to admit that the first half
was still not great. Too many times they allowed Tasman space to
attack and move the ball around at their pace. That said you could
argue that Harbour believed that by being in contention with the
score line at half time they would be able to push the pace of the
game in the second half and finish Tasman off with a strong performance.
33 unanswered points certainly brought a smile to
the face but I doubt that Liam Barry would have been delighted with
the first half. Otago's win over Auckland certainly showed that
Harbour were up against a good side on day one of the season and
as such maybe scoring the points they did against Otago given the
error count was horrific showed some signs of positivity. Only time
will tell?
Squad seems happy and guys seem to be comfortable
that rotation and freshness is key to keeping them on track this
season. Wulf being out this coming weekend will be a big loss as
he has played well on his return to Harbour. Interested to see how
Harbour go against BOP and wonder if the kid Pleasants-Tate from
Takapuna will be good enough to make the BOP team given that Harbour
decided he was not what they were looking for this year. I am sure
he will have plenty to say if he does feature for BOP.
