How disappointing but sadly not surprising for McAlister
to put himself before his own team.
The guy lives in a dream-world where the reality of
his own, privileged position on the NZ rugby landscape is yet to
come into his self-absorbed focus.
If you were the player you think you are then you
would be in the All Blacks. While playing a team sport well together
will undoubtedly help your chances - at the end of the day you need
to look in the mirror and be judged by your own ability.
Harbour needs to do well for Harbour as a collective,
not for Luke, he has had more than his fair share of chances...

"Former All Black Luke McAlister is calling on
his North Harbour teammates to help him force his way back into
the All Blacks.
Luke McAlister is asking his North Harbour teammates
to give him a hand to make the All Blacks end of year tour.
Harbour are in 11th spot on the ITM Cup table and
face Otago this Thursday night in Albany.
McAlister says his team has to get better results
if he's any chance to make the grand slam. He says if he keeps playing
and keeps improving he'll be putting his hand up.
Meanwhile North Harbour have made two changes to their
side to face Otago on Thursday night.
Malakai Ravulo will start at openside flanker in place
of Tom Chamberlain and Ben Botica comes in for Michael Harris at
first five. "
