Harbour took a thrashing from the Cantabs on Friday night in a game that should be
erased from the memory as quickly as possible. Whilst the team seemed to try hard
they were out played throughout the night.
Alipate Fatafehi is nothing short of criminal in defence and to be honest, he is hot
and cold in attack. I doubt Mr Wilson will be able to put up with the big Tongan
coming in off his wing in defence for too much longer. He cost Harbour big on Friday
and did the same the week before. McPhee was back to his best by chasing shadows all
night, tripping over his own feet and his team mates and generally looking like the
local hobo who found his way into the team. Harris had an average night by his
standards and he would be concerned that Botica did marginally better when he came
on for the second week in a row.
The pack were beaten up and a few of them looked well off the pace. James King
looks like he is going to be a top player and continues to impress but he is
struggling with his fitness. Reid was poor throughout and he struggled to get a grip
of the game. Chamberlain looked slow and to be well off his game again but he
struggled on for the whole game. Richard Mayhew had another decent game (did I just
say that again?) and the midfield worked hard to keep the team going forward and
steady in defence. That said, when your wingers are screaming in off their wings it
can make the midfiled look like a bunch of turkeys.
Not a lot more can be said and the message should be move on from Friday night and
get focussed to face Otago this coming week. A good win on Thursday could keep the
boys bouyant and give them some hope for the rest of the season.
